We are all blown away that we are nearing the end of week 3 already! We are lapping up the sunny days at the moment. On Monday we had over 100 students participate in the Rippa Rugby Tournament. Thank you to all the parents who helped transport, coach and manage teams. It was such an amazing day and all teams represented us so well. Today was a wonderful occasion where we had 4 of our students baptised by Bishop John at St Mary's Church. 35 children across the Napier Parish have begun their Sacramental Journey and are partaking in Reconciliation.

This is a big term sports wise! Any fab sport's photos captured, please send in to Paul or myself as we love sharing our adventures both within and outside of school. We are always proud of our students out on the sport fields. This week we enjoyed hosting nearly 100 teachers from around Hawke's Bay and as far as Waipuk to attend Numicon PLD. It was great to host so many.

At St. Mary's church, a significant event unfolded as families gathered to witness the baptisms of Zoe, Jim, Archie and Flynn. The ceremony, led by Bishop John Adams and supported by Father Chris Martin, held deep meaning for all involved.
Baptism, a sacred ritual in the Christian faith, symbolises a spiritual rebirth and entry into the community of Christ. Through the pouring of water and the spoken blessings, individuals are initiated into a life of faith, love, and service.
The presence of Bishop Adams and Father Martin underscored the importance of this sacrament. Their guidance and support provided reassurance to those being baptized and their families, affirming the significance of the moment.
As the water flowed over each child's head, it represented a cleansing of the soul and a fresh start in their journey of faith. Surrounded by their loved ones, they felt the warmth of community and the embrace of God's love.
The words spoken by Bishop Adams and Father Martin carried weight and meaning, emphasizing the lifelong commitment that baptism entails. They encouraged everyone present to live out their faith with courage and compassion, guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ.
In the days and weeks to come, the memory of the baptism will serve as a source of inspiration and guidance. It will remind those who participated of their identity as beloved children of God and their responsibility to live out their faith in the world. 
We would like to thank Theresa Shanks (Principal of Reiginer) and Deb Gibson (Reiginer DRS) for organising such a wonderful parish event. 

St Joseph's Whanau, is working hard at their Gymnastic lessons at Omni Gym. With each session, the gymnasium becomes a hub of activity, buzzing with the laughter and chatter of eager children as they embark on their gymnastic journey.

Gymnastics, with its array of movements and daring feats, plays a pivotal role in children's development. It serves as a pathway for new physical skills, refining their motor skills, coordination, and agility. Through mastering techniques on balance beams and conquering challenges on parallel bars, children not only enhance their physical capabilities but also cultivate resilience and determination in the face of adversity.

Gymnastics nurtures a sense of self-confidence and self-esteem in children as they push their boundaries and surpass their own expectations. Each accomplishment, whether it be mastering a new skill or perfecting a routine, instills a sense of pride and accomplishment, bolstering their confidence in their abilities. This newfound confidence permeates every aspect of their lives, empowering them to tackle challenges with courage and resilience.

Cognitively, gymnastics stimulates mental faculties such as spatial awareness, concentration, and problem-solving skills. As children navigate intricate routines and maneuvers, they develop a deeper understanding of spatial relationships and body mechanics, enhancing their cognitive abilities. This cognitive stimulation not only improves academic performance but also lays the groundwork for lifelong learning and intellectual curiosity.

Well done Whanau!

A massive well done to everyone who went along to the Rippa Rugby tournament at Tareha Park on Monday 13th May. The weather was amazing, and the vibe was so awesome! 
We had 9 teams and over 100 kids attending, the most of any school. A massive thanks to Mr Marple for organising the teams, coaches, and transport. Thanks to Waka Petera for giving up his own time and coming in over lunchtimes to coach the teams. 
We are so proud of every student for showing the St Pat's Way when out and about. You guys rock! 

Congratulations to the students who received class certificates at our school assembly on Friday. So many fantastic achievements and students modelling the St Pat's Way. Well done. 

The Year 8 girls have started their transition visits to Sacred Heart College with the Hearts programme. We are so so so so lucky to have the staff at SHC make the time in their teaching schedule provide this opportunity for our girls. We are so thankful to the staff. 
The girls have the opportunity to experience Science, Geography, Art, Maths, Drama and many other exciting subjects. This all helps with the transition to highschool for the girls for 2025. 

On the back of attending a Ricky Herbert Football Academy Camp in January of this year, ex-students Ruby Quane & Eva Pietersen have been selected to represent the Academy at an invitational tournament in Melbourne during the first week of the Term 3 holidays later this year.

They will join with other players selected from Hawkes Bay (x6) and nationwide for what will be a very exciting opportunity for these hard-working, passionate, and talented young players.

As part of the trip, they will train with A-League teams Melbourne City and Melbourne Victory. An exciting opportunity to learn from professional players and coaches.
